Private collectors
As an independent appraisal firm, we do not buy or sell and are not affiliated with any auction house or gallery. We serve private collectors throughout the country. NYFAA is relied upon for accurate and informed valuations of single works of art, eclectic, or carefully selected collections focused on works of art by period and genre, jewelry, fine furnishings, and general household contents. We provide accredited appraisals for insurance, sale, trusts, estates, damage and loss, marital dissolution, and donation purposes. Our firm emphasizes privacy and confidentiality, expedient turnaround time, excellent client service, and competitive fees.
If you only require appraisals on one or a few pieces or are not located near one of our five locations, we also provide online appraisals without an on-site visit.
Corporations
As the appraisers of the art and furnishings at Rockefeller Center, we understand the needs of corporations and organizations with collections in private and public spaces. We evaluate everything from single works of art to thousands of objects in multiple locations. Besides providing professional appraisals, accepted and preferred by all major insurance carriers, the IRS and courts of law, NYFAA can assist with varied levels of collection management needs, including art management software, sales, and charitable contribution advisory, and coordination for moving, installations and conservation. Our firm is fully insured.
Insurance Specialists
As preferred providers for major carriers including Chubb, AXA, Chartis and Pure, amongst others, we frequently work with insurance providers and collectors to accurately evaluate fine and decorative art. We provide on-site and desktop appraisals in over 30 areas of expertise, walkthrough services, collection management software, photographic and video documentation, all tailored to meet the needs of our clients. Our longstanding relationships with brokers and carriers allow us to offer competitive rates to referred clients.
In the event of a damage or loss, NYFAA has in-house senior appraisers specializing in forensic valuation to create pre-loss appraisal reports, direct conservation efforts and determine diminution.

Public Collections—Museums and Non-Profit Organizations
We frequently work with charitable donors to ensure the maximum valuation of any donation without compromising the not-for-profit status of the recipient institution. Our appraisals are universally accepted and considered qualified by the IRS and courts of law. We also provide replacement value appraisals for purposes of insurance coverage and in instances of damage or loss.
